Think About Your Body in a Different way with High Barn Oils

Ageing, Inflammation, Allergies, Hormones, Omega 3 and 6 Thursday 1 January 2004

Is there a simple way to look at what™s going on? Ageing begins at day one. Eating is the biggest single thing we do to our bodies during our lives and we need to think about food and its impact on the body in a different way. These notes will paint a picture for you to bear in mind all through life and to help you to eat properly thereby reducing many kinds of illness.

It is reasonable to say that most allergies and many illnesses are the result of inflammation, reactions to foods and events to which the body has no immediate solution or sometimes even long term ability to heal itself. We are a complex chemical factory designed to thrive on simple food. This food enables the body to make myriads of chemicals to keep us running, it follows that the wrong food interferes with this smooth running and leads to disease.

You need to eat well when you are pregnant; you are after all building a new body. If you eat food with the wrong balance of oils and fats this will be transferred to the new baby, not only while pregnant but also while breast feeding, clearly the more attention paid at this stage may see a healthier child, less prone to allergies and stronger all together.

You may have thought about hormones and their role in the body but have given no thought at all to the hormones that increase with age. Why is this and why they are associated with inflammation, increased levels of insulin, obesity and other problems of the modern times?

A silent kind of inflammation goes on unnoticed for years and invades all body organs. It has no pain; it continually assaults organs, leads to type 2 diabetes, heart disease and hypertension amongst other chronic diseases of many types, and many less invasive and annoying medical problems.

So a more sensible approach to ageing and health would be an anti-ageing anti illness, natural diet from the start not anti-inflammatory medicine. Look around you. Empirical evidence shows that people do have many medical problems that clog doctors™ waiting rooms and hospitals, and make some of our lives and old age miserable.

What is responsible for this? Well it might surprise you to know that much of it is due to those Omega oils, the essential fatty acids the body does not make and need to be in our diet. Omega 6 is the building block for pro inflammatory hormones; Omega 3 is the building block for anti-inflammatory hormones. How can such a simple imbalance of these elements of life be responsible for such wide ranging problems and why has this happened?

Well, all the advice over the last fifty years about oils and fats was wrong. It led to an over use of all types of oil high in Omega 6 with little thought to oils high in Omega 3. These oils high in Omega 6 are used so widely in food preparation and the feeding of animals that the balance we need is unavailable to us now. It was available in meat and milk fifty years ago when feeding regimes for us and animals were vastly different.

What should we do? Reduce intake of grains, increase fruit and non starchy vegetables to reduce the amount of insulin that has to be produced. Secondly have sufficient protein that helps stabilise blood glucose levels. You have to feel satisfied with a reduced level of calories to successfully eat yourself well; you must reduce the Omega 6 fatty acids to reduce the body™s ability to make the pro inflammatory hormones. Linseed oil is a natural way to help resolve these issues and coupled with moderate exercise can change your body for good and for life.

Ignore the hormonal consequences of diet and almost all other strategies for good health are compromised, or to put it another way let food be your medicine and medicine be your food.

It is going to be difficult to change the food regime continually assaulted as we are with tastes we crave that are not good for us. We are eating because we are addicted and not just for the food our chemical factory needs.
