Highbarn Oils at the BBC Good Food Show
Gourmet Oil Fresh from the Farm Wednesday 1 December 2004
High Barn Oils’ farm-pressed linseed oil will be tempting health conscious shoppers at the BBC Good Food Show in Birmingham (Nov 24-28).
Packaged for the first time in elegant, culinary glass bottles, the Omega 3 rich oil with its unique, nutty taste peps up salads when used as a base for delicious herby dressings and gives smoothies and yoghurts a healthy kick.
With up to three times more Omega 3 than fish oils and wholly vegetarian, natural linseed oil is a versatile ingredient in low temperature cooking and gives otherwise naughty nibbles a virtuous streak.
“It’s especially good in home-made flapjacks and muffins, which are ideal for popping in children’s lunchboxes, while adults can enjoy it in guilty free dressings,” says Durwin Banks of High Barn Oils.
Part of the human diet for centuries, linseed has long been credited with health-giving properties.
“Eaten daily as part of a balanced diet, linseed gives your body nearly all the essential fatty acids it needs to maintain good health, but particularly Omega 3,” says Durwin.
Cold-pressed on the farm in Sussex from home grown linseed, the oil is extracted in much the same way as highly prized single estate olive oils.
“Because we grow and crush the linseed ourselves only the freshest, purest oil reaches the bottle, ready to release Nature’s goodness.”
The 500ml glass bottles of High Barn Oils’ Culinary Linseed Oil in hessian presentation packs cost £15 and are available from Stand D31 at the BBC Good Food Show, Birmingham, or by mail order from High Barn Oils on 01403 730326.
